About Cotteridge Park

Cotteridge Park is one of the many Victorian parks in the city, consisting of over 22 acres gradually accrued by a series of purchases made by the former King's Norton Urban District Council between February 1905 and December 1909. The Park was transferred to Birmingham Corporation in 1911.

Richard Turner, Cotteridge Park Keeper

Cotteridge Park is very fortunate to have an on-site Park Keeper. Richard has been working in Cotteridge Park for many years and is well known to generations of park users and their dogs.
He combines his horticultural and grounds maintenance duties with a friendly smile, a willingness to get involved with FoCP projects and a knowledge of what's going on where. He will happily help with questions about plant care and wildlife.
Richard is a vital part of what makes Cotteridge Park so very special.
We would like to thank Richard's employers, Veolia Environmental Services, for all their support of the work of FoCP

About the Friends of Cotteridge Park

The Friends of Cotteridge Park was formed in March 1997 in response to the threat of 'de-commissioning' by the City Council due to budget cuts. Due to the enormous outcry from residents and park users who staged a campaign to save the park which attracted coverage on TV, radio and in the local press, the Council decided against de-commissioning.

Since then Friends of Cotteridge Park have met on a monthly basis to organise many events in the park, and to instigate and run long-term initiatives.

Friends of Cotteridge Park is a group that meets to organise events and help around the park. Anything from setting up a festival to getting a new skateboard park put together, FoCP has shown that its members can do almost anything.

Anyone who lives in the area or uses Cotteridge Park can join Friends of Cotteridge Park and membership is free.

If you've got any ideas about what could improve your park, come along to a meeting or send an email to info@cotteridgepark.org.uk
